Lorianne and Charlie have been having a great time on the air sampling your weird food suggestions.

Let's see what you think now!  Sample a few of these suggestions... and then e-mail us and let us know your oddest food combination.

Jelly Brats:  Cook Brats on the grill as directed on package. In the meantime, bring one jar of grape jelly, 2 cans of beer and one large sliced onion to a boil. Remove brats from grill and place in jelly mixture and boil for an additional 30 to 45 minutes. -- Shane, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Shane listens to the Countdown on 106.5 WYTE.
By the way, Lorianne and Charlie call this the worst-looking, best tasting weird food ever!

Driving along near Goff, CA I was eating dried apple slices. Hubby was eating spicy pork rinds. I thought, why not? Best redneck driving snack ever! Apples calm down the burn. I tried other dried fruits, but apple was best. -- Arlene, Phelan, CA -- listening on KATJ

(In case you didn't hear it on the air, Lorianne had never had a pork rind. And, despite Arlene's suggestion, Lorianne still has never had a pork rind! Apple or not! Arlene laughingly e-mailed us her apologies!)

Sonja of Effingham, Illinois suggested that, instead of using butter, Lorianne and Charlie put peanut butter on their corn on the cob.

REDNECK BOLOGNA! -- * Slice of bologna, t
hin layer of mayo, grated cheese
-- Spread mayo on bologna, sprinkle with the grated cheese. Roll up tightly. Cut roll into thirds, sticking toothpick through bologna to hold together. Garnish with slice of olive and pimento at the base of toothpick. Created especially for use while playing Alan Jackson’s new single “I LIKE BOLOGNA” by a very twisted foodie -- Countdown Producer T. Clark Miller!

A friend of mine swears that if you eat a Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip cookie and a Cheese puff at the same time it tastes exactly like cotton candy. I told her all I could taste was chocolate cookies mixed with a cheese puff, but like I said according to her taste buds it's cotton candy! Go Figure!!!! -- Denise, Green Bay, WI -- Denise listens to the Countdown on WBWI 92.5!

Use cottage cheese as a dip for your chips. It is the best! -- Melissa, Newark, OH -- Melissa listens to us on WCLT!

I listen on Sunday mornings (on Froggy Q 102, WOWQ) on my way to pick up Mom for church and always enjoy the "weird foods" segment. My suggestion: a sauce for over meatballs: Mix equal parts Heinz chili sauce & grape jelly, simmer with the meatballs and enjoy. -- Eric, Home Camp, PA

Our family discovered a weird food combo at a family gathering. Fresh strawberries and chocolate were served, but by accident, my watermelon and fudge chocolate combined. My brother-in-law tasted it and said "It tastes like Christmas." I said, "What do you mean?" "Like chocolate covered cherries," he replied. What do you think? --
Deb, Eustis, NE

Dennis sent his weird food idea all the way from Brisbane, Australia! -- Sliced fresh white bread - 1/2 inch thick, lightly buttered. Spread lightly with Vegemite and then spread avacado.

I've done a lot of "experimenting" with different foods. Here’s one of my favorites:  Mint chocolate chip ice-cream with Capt'n Crunch Berries on top. I listen to your show every Sunday night and I love hearing all the weird foods and I thought I would submit one of mine. I have more! Hope you enjoy! --
Andrew, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 106.5. WYTE

Ummmm... I like to eat apples with Laughing Cow original swiss cheese (not the light kind ) on top of the apple. -- Jessica, Columbia, MO. Jessica listens to the Countdown on Clear 99.

Here's a weird food, compliments of Andrew Zimmern, a recent call-in guest on The Countdown.
He hosts BIZARRE FOODS on the Travel Channel... so who better to ask!! He had us try, bread, with butter, and a dried fish like anchovies.

When Lorianne went on vacation, Charlie and the all-male Crook & Chase Countdown staff took the opportunity to make a concoction only a man could dream up. They created the ULTIMATE MAN FOOD: Pork Rinds, Nacho Cheese and Chili with Beans!! It was delicious... literally Hog Heaven! Of course, this is something Lorianne would never think about trying... which is why they did it!

When we were kids, we put peanut butter and mustard on saltine crackers and it is great! My grandkids eat it now. - Pat, Scarborough, Ontario, Canada

I found a crazy new food by mistake. I was given strawberry jam instead of catsup for my French fries. Assuming it was ketchup, I put it on my fries. After the 1st surprise, I thought it wasn't half bad. Try it, you might like it. -- Peggy, Delmarva Peninsula, Maryland

I have guest DJ’ed on KBCY for about 10 yrs. and I love your show, we play it every Sunday! I love chocolate covered Frito's mmm-mmm! -- Jonathan, Abilene, Texas

Hi there, We like your Countdown. Listening to Crook and Chase is like kicking back with you sitting around my kitchen table. Here’s a strange food combo that my husband shared with me. When he was a young boy this was a specialty of his Dad’s that was taken when they went on fishing trips. Then in later years, we would take our kids and set out on a day trip. Our unique breakfast would be shared in the car as we headed down the road. We would combine 2 slices of bologna, the old fashioned with the red wrapper (thick sliced is the best), and then you put a Hostess fruit sweet roll between the two slices of bologna and eat it like a sandwich. It took me 20 years but I did try it and it would keep you from going hungry. It’s really not that bad! Give it a try. -- Patricia, Driggs, Idaho

Our engineer Bennie has learned to adjust his Kentucky-raised taste buds since marrying his wife Yin, who hails from China. One of their favorite adaptations is: Spaghetti Noodles, Soy Sauce, Vinegar and a small amount of Sesame Oil. Adjust to suit your taste.

Peanut butter, mayo, slice of onion sandwich. You make it like you do a grilled cheese sandwich. - Valerie, Baltic, OH (Lorianne and Charlie really liked this sandwich. Lorianne even created her own version of it... with pickles. And they liked that even better! Thanks, Valerie!)

My mother had this craving when she was pregant with me. Peanut butter and banana and bologna and Miracle Whip sandwich. Peanut butter and banana on one side, bologna and Miracle Whip on the other. And put them together. - Tina, Bergland, MI

A "no ice cream sundae" - just a banana, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and nuts

Sour cream, syrup and strawberry jam on a waffle. This is great! My step-mom fixed it for me and it got me hooked! You guys will be hooked, too! (She was right. Lorianne and Charlie loved it!) -- Brittany, Elma, Washington

Cheetos dipped in chocolate pudding. - Samantha, Resaca, GA

Lorianne’s “Roll To Go” - Lay out a piece of your favorite deli meat. Lorianne likes turkey. Spread spicy mustard over the deli slice. Add fresh lettuce or spinach. Then top with thin slices of your favorite vegetables. Lorianne uses bell pepper, tomato, and cucumber, but you can add any ingredients that are your favorites. After all your ingredients are piled on, roll it up like a cigar, keeping all the ingredients from falling out the sides. You can eat it right away, or make several to wrap up and keep in the fridge. Lorianne grabs them for an “on the go” healthy breakfast, eats them for lunch, and keeps them at the office for a quick snack. Even “Junk Food Charlie” loved this weird food combination!

My favorite sandwich when I was a kid was white bread, creamy peanut butter, grape jelly and mayonnaise. I still like it once in a while. - Ardith

My weird food combination is strawberry yogurt and hot chocolate. It tastes like chocolate covered strawberries. - Your loyal listener, Rachel

My favorite weird food is......peanut butter-mircle whip-bologna-cheese-lettuce...I had this craving when i was pregnant with my son 16 yrs ago and am still lovin' it. have it at least 3 times a month of course everyone thinks I am crazy. - Carol, DuBois, PA

Hello from the North! I was listening to your show this morning (local station plays it every Sunday- KX96) and you were talking and eating peanut butter mixed with sugar and it got me thinking. It is a long time standing family tradition to eat peanut butter with bacon on top. Now it can't just be made by itself but rather when you are eating that big old greasy breakfast with eggs and bacon and toast, you have to leave the toast and bacon to the last and then put on some peanut butter it all and enjoy. I believe that it started with my Papa and then my Mom did it when she was pregnant with me and now I do it. My boyfriend thinks that it is awful but he has never tried it. I think that you both would enjoy it. - Laura, Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada

Hi Lorianne and Charlie: I listen to your Countdown show every Sunday. I have a peanut butter combination for you. I mix peanut butter, soft butter and pancake syrup together (will be a very smooth mixture), then spread on toast, pancakes, waffles, or crackers. Makes the peanut butter real soft and doesn't stick to the roof of my mouth. Love eating this. - Brenda, Franklin, MO

I like to fry spam and put eat it with sugar on it. I like peanut butter and honey sandwiches, then I dip them in ketchup. I don't always get to listen to you and it's nice to look at things on your website. I love Country music, and used to watch you on TNN. Thanks for the great Music. - Carol , Cosmos, MN

My babysitter used to make us these sandwiches, and now my daughter loves it too. Peanut Butter, sliced american cheese, and sweet pickles (sliced lengthwise). These really are soooo delicious!! - Amy, Tunnel Hill, GA

I know you two have tried the weirdest peanut butter and..... combos ever, but I think I have one that will drive everyone up the wall: PB&S (peanut butter and SPAM). When I used to volunteer at the local railroad museum, I would always carry a peanut butter and Spam sandwich. (I still have it once in a while!) - Jason, Ringgold, GA

Hi Lorianne & Charlie: We listen to you almost every Sunday morning while delivering our MIDs (that bag of ads on the mailbox). Each of you has a really great style of interviewing and we always learn something when you talk with different guests. When you sample different "weird" food suggestions while giving a blow-by-blow description of how you're eating these dishes makes us laugh. And you surprise us with ones you do like. My grandmother used to take me into her kitchen when I was very young and she would slice off little slabs of cheese from a thick wheel of Colby she always seem to have. She would then arrange them on a plate and then spread strawberry preserves like she would on toast. Her treat was fun then and I still make it from time to time. Maybe another "weird" food combination? Always looking forward to your show! - Sincerely, Arianna

Lorianne and Charlie: I have to tell you, we were listening to your show today while cleaning out the garage and heard the weird food combo with the hot dogs and mashed potatoes. I think that my kids have that beat! My oldest son absolutely loves pepperoni pizza with mashed potatoes and brown gravy! My youngest son on the other hand, LOVES peanut butter, jelly, mayo, ketchup, cheese and bologna. I have no idea where they got it from because to me, that is the sickest thing I have ever heard of! -Gina (sons Casey and Brady are the weird food eaters!), Missoula, MT

Peanut Butter and Sweet Pickle Sandwich - Sara

Cheetos and Peanut Butter - Luke Bryan (Hey... when you're stuck on a tour bus, you eat what you can get your hands on!)

I just wanted to send in a weird food because when I make this sandwich people think it's so gross - my daddy always ate it! So you can either have it on bread or on toast - toast is better!! Put peanut butter on both sides of the toast - I put butter too, and then slice cucumbers up and put them on and then sprinkle cinnamon and then enjoy. What I find really weird - is my daddy puts mayonaise on one side instead of both peanut butter - so try that to make it a little weirder!! Hopefully you enjoy it!!! - Maria, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

Icing and Pickles - Lorianne and Charlie actually liked it! They used chocolate icing, and as Lorianne says, chocolate with anything is "a good thing"!

Hey Lorianne and Charlie -- I listen to your "weird food combos" on the Countdown every time I get a chance and I thought you should try this one: make a grilled cheese sandwich like you normally would (you know---buttered bread, cheese, bread again and grill until golden brown) after the sandwich is cooked, while it is still warm, spread strawberry jam on top and ENJOY!!! I can't eat a grilled cheese sandwich without my strawberry jam anymore and I've been doing this for years. - Gail

I have 2 that sound really weird, but my family loves. The first one is unbelievably simple: After my mom would make & frost the cake, there was always some frosting left over. So if the cake was for something special and we couldn't have it that night, she would let us have the remainder of the frosting on plain saltine crackers. I LOVE IT!!! - Suzanne
The second one is my mom's Pear & Cheddar Cheese Pie. It's great either warm or cold. This is the first and only fruit pie I have ever eaten warm! (Click here for the recipe.)

Peanut Butter on Brats - Sue

Deer sausage with chocolate chip cookies - Robert

Peanut butter, mustard and sliced pickles (The best is kosher dills) - Katherine

My little brother thought this up and it tastes delicious. It's called the egg and tuna cone. You need an ice cream cone, egg salad and tuna salad. You start by taking the ice cream cone and putting some egg salad on the very bottom. Then layer some tuna salad above that and keep layering tuna salad and egg salad until you reach the top. There you have it. An egg and tuna cone! - Katherine

Hello, my name is Lillie. I listen to your show each Sunday. I came across my strange food combo by mistake. We did not have any sweet and sour sauce for the rice I was making. I don't like to eat plain rice, so we were having beets that night and I put some of the juice from the beets on my rice and it was good. Then another night I put beet juice and A-1 sauce on the rice and it was still really good. Another good combo is American cheese on a blueberry bagel. Then someone else I know likes to make toast then put on mayo, lettuce and peanut butter.

Toasted Peanut Butter and Bacon sandwich - Rick

I live in Indiana and, boy, do I have a weird food combination for you. When my wife Tracey was pregnant with our 1st daughter, she craved popcorn and chili cheese sauce, but now she likes peanut butter, caramel sauce and chocolate sauce sandwiches (I know she's not pregnant).

I love listening to your show! What a way to spend a few hours. I watched your television program faithfully and was sorry to see it go off the air. Now I have what I think is a combo that tastes good. It is bananas (sliced), applesauce, and bologna (diced) mixed together. My family thinks it is weird but, I find it wonderful. - Shel

Honey & Roast Beef- Keith Anderson

Pork and Beans with Cottage Cheese- Pat

Orange juice in place of milk in cream of wheat or oatmeal - Chuck

After the last couple of weeks of you talking about weird food combinations, I finally decided to tell you about my son Dean's weird concoction. Dean liked to cook and he was very inventive, he was 16 at the time. He made what he called Eggallows. He would scramble eggs, add marshmallows and eat! Sometimes he would add syrup on top as well! His 3 younger siblings took a liking to it as well but luckily don't ask me to make it! We sit and laugh about it all the time. Dean was involved in a car accident November 2005 that took his life. We have so many fun and loving memories, and with our faith we make it day by day. So I say, live on Eggalows!! - Thank you, Maureen (aka - Homeskillet, Dean's nickname for me :)

My favorite weird food is pb&j with ham and chesse. I love the creaminess of the whole thing. Keep playing that great music. - Liz, Glendale, KY

Ever since we were little kids my sister (Alice) and I (Katie) would eat peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. It is good on any kind of bread or bagel, toasted or plain. My favorite though is an everything bagel toasted. Not only do my sister and I eat these sandwiches, but I have gotten my 5 year old nephew (David) and my 2 ½ year old niece (Meagan) into eating them and it is their favorite sandwich as well. - Katie, Oshawa, Ontario Canada

I have a weird food combination that I tried when I was just a little boy. I wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but we didn't have any jelly so my mother suggested I use Miracle Whip. She had it before and said it was good so I thought I would try it. Believe it or not, it really is good. Peanut butter and Miracle Whip. Give it a try before you judge it. You might like it to!! It sounds bad but it is good!! - Dan, Marshalltown, Iowa
